About the Author

Ingrid Pearce draws deeply from her lived experiences to craft evocative, emotionally resonant fiction grounded in the landscapes and rhythms of rural British Columbia. Living on a working ranch, she brings authenticity to the natural settings, agricultural life, and close-knit rural communities that shape The Girl with Delphinium Eyes. Her hands-on experience with farming life, including tending livestock, working the land, and exploring the woods, infuses her writing with vivid detail and a strong sense of place.

Pearce’s creative journey began through years of journaling and storytelling, often inspired by everyday moments on her ranch and shared with close friends. Encouraged by these early readers, she pursued formal writing courses, allowing her to expand her storytelling into longer works. Pearce’s fiction is further enriched by personal history and family narratives, including her parents’ experiences as immigrants to Canada, and her own reflections on childhood, home, and belonging.

About the Book

A young girl vanishes, swallowed by darkness, her story lost to time. Decades later, a compassionate nurse inherits a quiet country home from a woman she barely knew, stepping into a mystery that refuses to stay buried.

Joanna Waters has built her life around caring for others, keeping her own painful past carefully contained. But when her elderly client Charlotte dies suddenly and leaves her everything, Joanna is drawn into a world that feels both strangely intimate and unfamiliar. As she and her husband settle into the late Charlotte’s rural property, disturbing dreams begin to haunt her. The land itself seems alive with memory, and the deeper Joanna digs, the more she senses that Charlotte’s past remains to be finished in the present.

As fragments of history surface, Joanna must confront the possibility that her connection to Charlotte runs far deeper than chance. Themes of loss, belonging, generational trauma, and redemption intertwine as past and present begin to blur. But some secrets resist exposure, and some truths demand a reckoning: what really happened to the girl with delphinium eyes and how is Joanna a part of her story?
